The Situation
The Trustees of three pension schemes based in Cambridgeshire felt that their current auditor did not value their business. They found that by using the same auditor as the sponsoring employer that their scheme's accounts were not treated as a priority, so their accounts were always completed a few days before the deadline. They also felt they were in need of a helping hand to improve the efficiency of their Scheme and wanted to do this in a properly structured way, so that they didn't run into issues at a later date.
The Solution
The Trustees liked Ash Shaw's personal approach, our industry 'know how' and that we had no conflicts of interests. The Trustees understood that our business focus meant that we really wanted their custom.
Together, we developed an approach and explained how our work would help the Trustees and gave them a timescale for implementing our suggestions. Our risk based approach identified that there was an issue with the scheme's membership numbers which needed attention. Ash Shaw was able to provide 'hands on' assistance to help the trustees with this reconciliation and help the trustees obtain their Annual Report.
